Zoleka Mandela - Child Health Initiative Global Ambassador
Zoleka Mandela is the Global Ambassador for the Child Health Initiative, advocating for a safe and healthy journey to school for every child by 2030.
Granddaughter of the late Nelson Mandela, she is an author, global advocate and campaigner on road traffic injury and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Since the start of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety in 2011, Zoleka has been at the forefront of worldwide campaigns for road safety.
In memory of her daughter Zenani, and together with the FIA Foundation, Zoleka has led global advocacy initiatives calling for the inclusion of road safety in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Zoleka’s campaigning achievements have been recognised by the United Nations Millennium Campaign and the United Nations Development Programme, and she was invited by these agencies lead Sustainable Development Goal campaign events during the Opening Sessions of the UN General Assembly both in 2013 and 2014.
