UNEP leads the Partnership for Clean Fuels & Vehicles (FIA Foundation is also a member) which works with governments in developing countries across the world to encourage and support transition to cleaner fuels.

Reducing sulphur content in fuel is key to enabling a range of clean vehicle technologies, yet some countries still allow sulphur levels of more than 2000 parts per million (in the US, Australia and the EU, by contrast, the level is below 15ppm). Dirty diesel fuel and engines pose a significant health problem for children, because particulate matter is ingested deep into the lungs and carries other pollutants with it. Our initiative will work alongside PCFV to amplify the child health case for action.
