In Phnom Penh, AIP Foundation partnered with the UPS Foundation to empower youth to serve as road safety advocates through Safety Delivered. The program aims to reduce road crash injuries and fatalities among vulnerable motorcyclists, including child passengers and young drivers, by improving helmet use rates and driving behaviors through mutually-reinforcing components:

  1. Education and Skills Building - empowering students to become Youth Ambassadors for Road Safety (YARS) through road safety education and leadership development
  2. Public Awareness Campaigns - mass media campaigning through social media, television, and street-based advertisements
  3. Advocacy - convening government stakeholders through workshops and public events to influence policy on protecting young riders

Safety Delivered is also implemented by AIP Foundation in Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

AIP Foundation - Helmets for Families

Anlong Vil Primary School is located in Battambang Province -- Cambodia’s fourth deadliest province for road crash cases. 80% of students at the school commute via bicycle or motorcycle, yet helmet wearing rates average below 1%. AIP Foundation’s Helmets for Families program works to increase helmet use and road safety knowledge for students and the greater community through school-based education, teacher trainings, public awareness campaigns, and helmet donations at target schools.
